The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused Congress government of stooping to the lowest level of politics and making mockery of state Assembly by using it to settle personal scores with their political opponents.

In a joint statement, AAP co-president and Sunam legislator, Aman Arora and four other legislators said the silence of Shiromani Akali Dal on the issue of the Assembly passing a resolution against its own members that too for personal reasons and protecting corrupt Congress leaders shows that the pre-poll alliance between Captain and Badals is still going on.

The leaders said that the government had run away from discussing issues of the public importance in the Assembly and in a bid to divert the focus of people they stooped to the dirty politics.

They said that Amarinder Singh government is not taking action against Akali leaders who were involved in corrupt activities during Akali regime and in return Akalis are helping them in their misdeeds.

AAP leaders said that targeting political opponents is the lowest level of politics but AAP will not bow down with the mischievous and dirty tricks of the government and Akali Dal. They said that people of Punjab have full faith in the policies of AAP and the party will continue to fight for the rights of people.

The Punjab Assembly had Wednesday passed a resolution to condemn the release of an audio clip related to a drugs case against AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira.

The House asked the Chief Justice to take a suo motu notice in the case against AAP ally Lok Insaf Party’s legislators and brothers, Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains. The House condemned the incident.

Parliamentary affairs minister Brahm Mohindra moved the resolution against the Bains brothers and requested the Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice to take cognizance of it.
