Reaffirming its commitment to teachers’ welfare, the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education, led by Minister Ashish Sood, took another teacher-centric decision. This move aims to safeguard the professional interests of thousands of guest teachers, ensuring they suffer no loss of service benefits, experience, or remuneration while performing national and statutory duties.

Sood has given a go-ahead to the policy to count the census period for the guest teachers, with the census duty for them has been declared as ‘on duty.’
With this move, the Delhi government has officially decided to recognise the period Guest Teachers spent on Census duties as regular working days.
This decision ensures that their time on these government-assigned tasks is fully counted toward their overall teaching experience and benefits.

Education Minister Sood said, “Guest teachers are not merely educators; they are partners in nation-building. When the government entrusts them with important national responsibilities like the Census, they should not be penalised for serving the country. This decision ensures that every day spent in public service receives due recognition and respect,” he added.

The decision aims to bring uniformity in how various government and statutory duties assigned to guest teachers are treated, ensuring teachers do not face any service-related issues.

The total number of days a Guest Teacher spends on Census work will be added directly to their total working days and teaching experience. These days will be clearly reflected in their experience certificates, which is crucial for their career progression.
