Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of seven stations under Asansol Division of Eastern Railway today, said Chetna Nand Singh, Divisional Railway Manager of Asansol in a press meet.

The DRM of Asansol briefed the media about the ongoing development work of Asansol Division in particular and about the redevelopment of stations and construction of Limited Height Subways ( LHS ) over Indian Railways in general for ease of movement as well as providing more facilities and amenities to the passengers. Tomorrow the Prime Minister is going to lay foundation stone or to dedicate to the nation for seven more stations, 11 Limited Height Subway (LHS ) over Asansol Division under ‘Amrit Station Scheme’. At present, 15 railway stations in Asansol Division are in the process of redevelopment under ‘Amrit Station Scheme’. These seven Amrit Stations in Asansol Division are also envisaged to become an economic hub, a centre for highlighting the local produce and merchandise to the bigger market MP of Durgapur-Burdwan, Surendar Singh Ahluwalia will be present at Panagarh Station on the occasion.

“Asansol Division is committed to providing modern amenities and world-class facilities to train passengers, aligning with global standards. In line with this vision, Asansol Division has undertaken the redevelopment of several stations across its Basukinath, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Panagarh, Shankarpur and Vidyasagar stations under ‘Amrit Station Scheme’ ,” Chetna Nand Singh added. It involves preparation of Master Plans and their implementation in phases to improve the amenities at the stations like improvement of station access, circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, lift/escalators as necessary, cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, kiosks for local products through schemes like ‘One Station One Product’, better passenger information systems, executive lounges, nominated spaces for business meetings, landscaping etc. keeping in view the necessity at each such station
