South 24-Parganas witnessed two shocking incidents on Tuesday morning — one involving a fatal accident involving convoy of Trinamul Congress MLA Saokat Mollah, and the other a brutal mob lynching in Canning that triggered widespread outrage.
In the first incident, MLA Saokat Mollah’s convoy was travelling from Bhangar to Kolkata when disaster struck at Bamanghata. Eyewitnesses said the Kolkata Police pilot car leading the convoy suddenly lost control, reportedly after a suspected mechanical failure in its accelerator. The vehicle rammed into a motorbike and then crashed into an electric pole with severe impact.
