After Ajit Maity and Binay Sardar, it’s now Shankar Sardar— another Trinamul Congress leader in the eye of the storm following the Sandeshkhali incident. In the village of Bermajur, women express their anger with lathis, sticks and shoes at the residence of the Trinamul Panchayat head.

Five women were picked up by the police following this incident. A tumultuous confrontation ensued as women surrounded the house, leading to widespread vandalism. Property papers were thrown away, and the atmosphere was charged. Immediately, there were protests claiming the arrest of Shankar Sardar.

Allegations are mounting against Trinamul leader Shankar Sardar, after Binay Sardar and Ajit Maity. In the aftermath of the Sandeshkhali incident, enraged women in the village of Bermajur gram accused him of orchestrating widespread looting under the influence of Sheikh Shahjahan and his brother Sheikh Sirajuddin. Protests are met with force, and there are reports of Shankar facing allegations of self-harm using a job card.

This morning, a group of women gathered in protest outside Shankar Sardar’s residence. The chaotic situation led to widespread vandalism, including the throwing away of property papers and allegations of discarded food. The police, led by DIG Barasat Bhaskar Mukhopadhyay, swiftly arrived at the scene to control the situation and assure the affected villagers.

Shankar Sardar’s wife, Shibani, and daughter also spoke to the police, denying any involvement in wrongdoing. Amidst the unrest, the police have detained five women involved in the incident and taken them to the police station.
