2 Burdwan villages call for poll boycott
Over the basic demands of better roads, drinking water and bridges, two villages in East Burdwan have threatened to go on mass boycott of Lok Sabha election this year.
Keeping the Lok Sabha election guidelines in mind, state government officials, who have been in the same post for more than three years, were reshuffled today.
Dhaval Jain is the new commissioner of Kolkata Municipality. He was the commissioner of Howrah Municipality till now. Kolkata Municipal Corporation Commissioner Binod Kumar has been made principal secretary of minority affairs and madrasah education department with additional charge of principal secretary, department of correctional administration.
Avanindra Singh has been relieved from the post of principal secretary, fisheries department. He was made divisional commissioner of Burdwan division. Additional chief secretary environment department consumer affairs department with additional charge of principal secretary of environment department will henceforth handle the fisheries department.
