Banerjee said that there are three types of kits namely Rapid testing kits, BGI RT PCR kits, and Antigen kits. The 10,000 rapid testing kits that were provided by the ICMR were defective and was withdrawn. BGI RT PCR kits have also been withdrawn as per the email from NICED received yesterday and Antigen kits are not available in the hospitals of Bengal.
Goutam Bhattacharya, Chief Post Master General of West Bengal Postal Circle told The Statesman that the circle has dispatched medical consignments to cities like Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Guwahati and even Varanasi from its Kolkata sorting hub, situated besides the NSB International airport in Dum Dum.

The police administration and the local civic body have taken a number of steps to regulate the movement of the jute mill workers from their residence to the jute mill, so that jute mill workers on their way to work and back do not crowd unnecessarily.
“According to the public heath rules, a three km radius in the area has been brought under tight surveillance. There is, however, nothing to worry about and the situation is under control. People should follow the lockdown,” said the officer on special duty for Covid-19 in north Bengal, Dr Susanta Roy.
As a precautionary measure several other doctors who might have come close to their three affected colleagues have also been advised for quarantine process. In a further step for containment of coronavirus, the state government has decided to conduct ‘Rapid Antibody Tests’ at hotspots.
