About International Yoga Day

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution in December 2014 recognising June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, following a proposal by Prime Minister Modi. This year marks the 12th edition of the annual observance. The theme for 2026 is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” which puts focus on yoga’s role in helping people remain active and independent as they grow older.
