According to sources in the RLD, district presidents from the Meerut and Saharanpur divisions will attend today’s meeting. Along with party MPs, MLAs and officials from affiliated organisations will also be present.
It is believed that Jayant Chaudhary will assess the political situation in these two divisions and discuss the party’s election strategy. As the UP Assembly elections draw closer, the RLD has intensified its preparations.
Jayant Chaudhary has been continuously taking feedback from grassroots leaders. Western Uttar Pradesh is considered an RLD stronghold, and the party is determined to leave no stone unturned in the region.
According to sources, the meeting will also discuss organisational strength, workers’ activism at the booth level, and local issues. However, Jayant Chaudhary may face a significant reduction in the number of seats allocated to the RLD in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, and this has already triggered discussions within the party.
In the 2022 Assembly elections, the RLD contested 33 seats and won eight. These included Chhaprauli, Thana Bhawan, Budhana, Siwalkhas, Meerapur, Purkaji (SC), Shamli, and Sadabad.
The party finished second in 19 seats, third in five, and fourth in Kheragarh. However, 25 of these 33 seats now have BJP MLAs, so the RLD can no longer claim those seats.
