RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday mounted a blistering attack on Nitish Kumar, alleging that the JD(U) leader was behind the Bihar government’s recent decision to scale down the security cover provided to him and his wife Rabri Devi, as well as the move to vacate their official residence.
In a brief interaction with the media, Lalu Prasad Yadav said, “Yes, our security has been withdrawn. All of this is happening on the instructions of Nitish Kumar.”

Recently, following a security review, the Bihar government withdrew the Z+ security cover provided to Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. They are now being provided security by guards from the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), district police bodyguards, a pilot vehicle, and a bulletproof vehicle.
In protest against the reduction in security, Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi and Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav returned the security personnel stationed at their residence. The RJD has described the move as political vendetta, alleging that the government is compromising the security of its leaders for political reasons.
However, this is the first time Lalu Yadav has directly accused Nitish Kumar of being behind the decision.
Earlier, when Lalu Yadav returned to Delhi from Singapore after undergoing medical treatment, he commented on the political situation in Bihar while speaking to journalists at Delhi Airport. At that time, he had said, “Everyone has gone crazy. The NDA government is indulging in hate and vendetta politics.”
The RJD chief further alleged that opposition leaders were being targeted and harassed. He claimed that the government was deliberately taking such decisions to create political pressure. Lalu said that the public was watching everything and would respond at the appropriate time.
The RJD leaders have also compared the facilities and security cover provided to Nitish Kumar with those offered to Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, noting that all three have served as Chief Ministers of Bihar.
They pointed out that Nitish Kumar continues to enjoy Z+ security cover and resides in a five-acre government bungalow in Bihar, besides occupying the largest Type-VIII category bungalow in Delhi, while the state government has downgraded the security cover and residential facilities of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi.
