Amid the rumours of a split in Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, heavy police security has been deployed outside the Mumbai residence of party MP Sanjay Dina Patil.
The deployment comes amid speculation of his possible defection to Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

According to reports, Patil, along with several other MPs, is likely to merge with the Shinde Sena, a party formed after the split of Thackeray-led original Shiv Sena.
While Patil has dismisses rumours of a rebellion, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Thackeray loyalist Sanjay Raut has alleged that the MPs have been offered Rs 50 crore.
He alleged that an “advance payment of of Rs 15 crore” has been made to “buy MPs from Maharashtra”.
Raut, while addressing a press conference in Delhi, also hurled abuses at the MPs, who are planning to defect.
Amid the crisis, Shiv Sena (UBT) has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging him not to recognise the rebels as a separate bloc.
The party has also called a meeting of its MPs in Delhi on Thursday, warning of legal action against the dissidents.
The development comes days after 20 MPs of the Trinamool Congress merged with a little known Tripura-based Nationalist Citizens Party of India.
The TMC rebels have decided to support the NDA. However, a decision on their proposal is pending before Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who would decide on the matter after hearing from the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC.
