‘Won’t come here as tourist, will work for development’: Suvendu’s jibe at Mamata in Kurseong
The Chief Minister alleged that the hills had always been neglected and fell prey to rampant corruption by the erstwhile TMC government.

With the city gearing up for International Yoga Day on June 21, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has lined up a series of programmes aimed at promoting cleanliness, public health and fitness.
The three-day initiative will see the participation of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari as part of the build-up to the main Yoga Day celebrations at Kolkata’s Red Road. The mega event, being held for the first time the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to power in the state, will also be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The campaign will begin on Wednesday with a cleanliness drive at the historic Mayer Ghat in Bagbazar. The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit the ghat at 8 am to review the initiative and interact with officials.

On Thursday, the focus will shift to healthcare infrastructure. The Chief Minister will take part in a sanitation and awareness programme at the Bhowanipore Health and Wellness Centre at 7:45 am.
The final event of the series will be a special marathon on Friday morning. Beginning at 6:30 am from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation headquarters, the run will conclude at the Writers’ Building. Sources said the Chief Minister is also expected to participate in the marathon.
