Suicide or murder: Twisha Sharma’s death remains a mystery

A short post-mortem report of deceased Twisha Sharma (33) from AIIMS Bhopal pointed to injury marks on her body, according to sources. The findings have further complicated the high-profile case.

Twisha, who belonged to Noida, was found hanging on the terrace of her in-laws’ house at Katara Hills in Bhopal on the night of 11 May. Her parents have been accusing her husband, Advocate Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge who is presently working in the Consumer Redressal Forum.

Meanwhile, a court in Bhopal on Monday rejected Samarth’s application for an anticipatory bail. Giribala Singh was granted anticipatory bail a couple of days ago.

Pleading for justice, Parents of the deceased demanded the arrest of, and stringent action against Samarth and his mother. On the other hand, Giribala Singh claimed that Twisha was a drug addict who suffered behavioural disorders due to withdrawal symptoms. He said she was undergoing treatment from a Bhopal-based psychiatrist for her problems.

Meanwhile, Samarth remained absconding.

Following the post-mortem report, Twisha’s parents have renewed their allegations of murder. In response, Giribala Singh and her lawyer have questioned the report alleging that it does not specify where on the body are the injury marks, and how old are they.

The Bhopal Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident. According to SIT in-charge Misrod Zone ACP Rajneesh Kashyap, six police teams are in search of Samarth Singh. The police have also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on Samarth.

Twisha, a resident of Noida, met Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh through a dating app in 2024 and married him in December 2025. According to the information available in the public domain, she was a model who acted in supporting roles in a few South Indian movies before her marriage.
