‘Workers above 40 make sensitive age group’: Mishra lauds Centre’s health checkup initiative

Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for their initiative to ensure annual health check-up for workers aged 40 years and above under the new Labour Code, said these workers are among the individuals who belong to the most vulnerable age group from health point of view.

Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for their initiative to ensure annual health check-up for workers aged 40 years and above under the new Labour Code, said these workers are among the individuals who belong to the most vulnerable age group from health point of view.

Mishra observed that the screening of such workders, conducted in advance, can ensure timely treatment to avoid any eventuality and hardship to their families.
Addressing the launch event of the initiative at ESIC Medical College and Hospital, situated at Basai Darapur, in West Delhi, the minister assured that the social security and healthcare facilities for workers remain a priority for the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government.

He said over the recent years, the policies, infrastructure, and the laws enacted for workers across the country reflect PM’s vision. Under CM Gupta’s leadership, all the Central government schemes will be effectively implemented in Delhi with full commitment so that Delhi could emerge as a role model in implementing these historic initiatives. The state government is fully prepared to implement all labour codes at the earliest.
He shared that Delhi CM reviews the progress , on a regular basis by holding meetings almost every month with the Labour Department and the Construction Workers Board.

The Labour Minister said the Delhi government has been continuously undertaking reforms in line with the directions and suggestions by the Centre, and accordingly several rules have been amended for women workers in the national capital.
He noted that the legal barriers that earlier held women back from working round the clock have now been removed, and now they can choose to work during night hours as well across various establishments.

Mishra also said that except liquor shops, all other establishments in Delhi can now remain open 24 hours, as under the ease of doing business framework, several procedures related to permissions from the police, civic body and other departments have been simplified.
