Delhi-bound Air India flight makes emergency landing in Lucknow after mid-air smoke detection: Report
The Airbus A320 was coming from Bagdogra and reportedly had 148 people, including six crew members on board.
An IndiGo flight made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi on Saturday after encountering an engine failure-like situation mid-air.
The aircraft was operating from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to the national capital when the issue was reported.

The Delhi Fire Service said it received a distress alert at 10:53 AM and immediately rushed teams to the airport.
An emergency landing was made at IGI Airport in Delhi. The Fire Department received a call at 10.53 am. Department says that the aircraft has landed safely.
Flight lands safely, no injuries reported
According to officials, the pilot carried out a safe landing despite the technical scare. All passengers and crew are safe. No injuries or damage have been reported so far.
Authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the technical issue. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
IndiGo issues statement
Following the incident, IndiGo said that the technical issue was detected shortly before landing and aircraft landed safely at the IGI airport.
“A technical snag was detected shortly before landing on IndiGo flight 6E 579 operating from Visakhapatnam to Delhi on 28 March 2026. As a precautionary step and in accordance with the standard operating procedure, the pilots requested for priority landing and the aircraft arrived safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. All relevant authorities were promptly informed and the aircraft is undergoing necessary checks and maintenance,” IndiGo said in its statement.
“At IndiGo, the safety of our customers and crew is our top priority,” the airline added.
