Amid growing regional escalation and heightened public anxiety across the Middle East, authorities warn the public of cybercriminals seeking to exploit the tense atmosphere for financial gain. In a recent alert, Dubai Police issued a public warning about fraudsters exploiting recent developments by impersonating officials from a “Dubai Crisis Management” department and falsely claiming affiliation with Dubai Police.

Authorities said scammers have been contacting residents in an effort to unlawfully obtain sensitive personal information, including UAE Pass credentials and Emirates ID details.

According to Dubai Police, the fraudulent attempts are designed to facilitate crimes such as SIM swap operations, which could allow criminals to gain unauthorised access to victims’ bank accounts through mobile banking applications.

In a statement, the police stressed that they do not request confidential information, personal data or verification codes via telephone calls or text messages under any circumstances.

Dubai Police has urged people not to share personal, financial or banking information with unverified individuals. It advised members of the public to immediately report any suspected fraud by calling 901 or through the official eCrime platform dedicated to cybercrime reporting.

Authorities reiterated the importance of vigilance, warning that cybercriminals often exploit periods of heightened public concern to target unsuspecting victims.
