Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, held a productive conversation with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between India and Singapore.
“A very productive conversation with PM Lawrence Wong of Singapore. The India-Singapore partnership remains a key driver of growth and stability,” Modi said in a post on X, highlighting the positive outcome of the meeting.

The meeting underscores the growing importance of India-Singapore relations, with both countries seeking to enhance cooperation in areas like trade, investment, and technology. Singapore is a key partner in Southeast Asia, and India is looking to strengthen its ties with the region.
The two leaders discussed ways to boost economic cooperation, including in areas like digital technology, sustainability, and connectivity. They also emphasized the importance of cultural and people-to-people ties, with Singapore home to a significant Indian diaspora.
The meeting comes as India seeks to strengthen its Act East policy, with Singapore a key partner in the region. The two countries are expected to work together on initiatives like the Indo-Pacific Economic Corridor and the ASEAN-India Free Trade Agreement.
