Hollywood actress Demi Moore recently opened up about a unique moment in her career, filming ‘A Few Good Men’ with Tom Cruise while nearly eight months pregnant. Speaking at the New Yorker Festival with screenwriter Jia Tolentino, Moore shared memories that are equal parts honest and amusing.
At the time, Moore was expecting her second child, Scout Willis, and was navigating the pressures of Hollywood as a working mother. She recalled reading lines for the film with director Rob Reiner and co-star Tom Cruise, now 63, and noticed something in Cruise’s behavior.

“I think Tom was quite embarrassed,” she said. “I actually felt okay about it, I was moving around, though, right? But I could tell he felt that it was a bit awkward.”
Moore explained that, back then, Hollywood didn’t always make it easy for women to juggle careers and motherhood. Many of her peers were choosing one over the other, and she felt the need to prove that both could exist together.
“It’s one of the many things, for me, that didn’t make sense. I challenged it, saying, ‘Why not? Why can’t you have both?’ But it also came with a lot of pressure I put on myself to show it was possible,” she shared.
The 1992 courtroom drama based on Aaron Sorkin’s 1989 play, follows two US Marines accused of murdering a fellow Marine. Moore, already a mom to Rumer and Tallulah Willis with then-husband Bruce Willis, admitted that she became a “bit of an overachiever” during the shoot. She balanced her pregnancy, breastfeeding, and long hours on set while performing at her best.
Looking back, Moore laughs at her own intensity. “I go, ‘What the f*** was I thinking? What was I even trying to prove?’” she said. “It wasn’t as supported as it is today. To be breastfeeding, blocking, and rehearsing a scene. It was a lot.”
