Shruti, who has built a strong career in Indian cinema herself, last appeared in the multi-starrer film ‘Coolie’. In the movie, she played the role of Preethi Rajasekar.
The film featured some of the biggest names in Indian cinema, including superstar Rajinikanth, Telugu star Nagarjuna Akkineni, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, and even Bollywood’s Aamir Khan in a cameo appearance.
‘Coolie’ tells the story of a former coolie union leader who starts investigating the mysterious death of his friend, only to find himself caught in the middle of a powerful crime syndicate. The project created waves even before its release.
Initially announced in September 2023 under the working title ‘Thalaivar 171’, as it marks Rajinikanth’s 171st film as a lead actor, the movie was later given its official title in April 2024.
Filming took place across multiple locations, including Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and even Bangkok, between July 2024 and March 2025.
Shruti is now gearing up for her next big release, ‘Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam’, directed by Prashanth Neel. The first part of the franchise, ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’, hit theatres in 2023 and was praised for its scale and storytelling.
The film’s story unfolds in Khansaar, a fictional kingdom ruled by a monarchy. It explores the friendship between Deva, an exiled prince played by Prabhas, and Varadha, the reigning prince portrayed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
When betrayal and political games threaten the kingdom, Varadha turns to Deva for help in securing his throne. Shruti plays a key role in the high-octane action drama. It also stars Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Sriya Reddy, and many others.
