Regina Hall returns to her fan-favourite role as Brenda in ‘Scary Movie 6’

This is a big deal for fans because Hall, along with Anna Faris, did not appear in ‘Scary Movie 5’ back in 2013. Now, both of them are returning to their most loved roles; Hall as Brenda and Faris as Cindy.

Get ready for laughter, screams, and plenty of chaos. Regina Hall is officially coming back as Brenda in ‘Scary Movie 6’. Fans of the hit comedy-horror franchise have been waiting for this moment. And, now it’s happening.

The 54-year-old actress confirmed the news while chatting on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’. With a big smile, Hall teased, “I’m very excited to see where Brenda will be. I don’t know if I have high hopes for Brenda in life. I don’t know where Brenda made it to. But I’m excited to see where she is.”

The film, directed by Michael Tiddes, was first announced in October 2024 by Marlon Wayans. Marlon and his brother Shawn Wayans not only starred in the earlier films but also co-wrote them. Keenen Wayans, who directed the first two ‘Scary Movie’ films in the early 2000s, is back on board as producer.

Hall and Faris released a joint statement in August, saying, “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon; three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).”

The ‘Scary Movie’ franchise is famous for making fun of popular horror hits with wild parodies, outrageous gags, and a touch of ridiculousness. Hall’s character Brenda has become iconic because of her over-the-top reactions and, of course, her repeated deaths.

In ‘Scary Movie 3’, for example, Brenda was killed, mourned, and then somehow popped back up alive, with no explanation at all. That kind of playful nonsense is exactly why fans love her.

Marlon Wayans also shared his excitement earlier this year, saying, “We’re going to have the same fun and the same kind of tone and Wayans flavour that we gave on the first one.”

For Regina Hall, the fun doesn’t stop at horror spoofs. She will also be seen in ‘One Battle After Another’, a drama film releasing on September 26, where she stars alongside Hollywood heavyweights Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Benicio del Toro.

As for ‘Scary Movie 6’, audiences won’t have to wait too long. The film is ready to hit theatres on June 12, 2026.
