A 52-year-old salesman at a government wine shop in Bharat Nagar, Northwest Delhi, was attacked by unidentified assailants with hockey sticks and knives, the police said on Sunday.
The police said the victim, Gyanpal Singh, who sustained multiple stab injuries, was immediately taken to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Initial investigation revealed that the attack was linked to an old enmity, a senior officer said, adding that a PCR call regarding the incident was received at the Bharat Nagar police station.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the four persons armed with knives and hockey sticks attacked the victim. As part of the probe, the CCTV footage from the shop, in which the accused who attacked Singh was captured, was scanned by the police.
Thereafter, the crime team, along with the forensic experts, was called to the spot to inspect the scene. However, the victim gave his statement in detail, while the statements of the eyewitnesses, which also included the shop manager, are currently being recorded, the official mentioned.
An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS, and an investigation into the case is ongoing by the officers.
