Asif Qureshi, 42, cousin of Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, lost his life in an act of violence on the night of August 7 in Delhi’s Bhogal area. The fight started over something as small as a scooter parked in front of his house. But what followed was far more tragic than anyone could have expected.
It was around 11 PM when Asif asked a group of youngsters to move their scooty, which was blocking the gate to his home. According to the police, things quickly turned ugly. Words were exchanged, tempers flared, and then, in a moment of shocking aggression, one of the boys allegedly stabbed Asif in the chest with a sharp object. The wound was fatal.

Despite being rushed to the hospital by his family, doctors declared Asif dead on arrival.
Who was Asif Qureshi?
Asif Qureshi was not a celebrity, but he was related to one. His cousin Huma Qureshi is a well-known name in the film industry, with powerful performances in movies like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Badlapur’, and ‘Jolly LLB 2’. Asif, on the other hand, ran a poultry business and stayed away from the limelight.
His family describes him as a peaceful man who worked hard and kept to himself. According to his uncle, Saleem Qureshi (Huma’s father), Asif had no enemies.
“He just asked them to move the scooter so he could get through the gate. It became an issue of ego, and they killed him,” Saleem said to the media. “This kind of violence over such small matters shows how angry and unstable people have become.”
Asif’s wife, Shaheen (earlier known as Renu), was there when the attack happened. Still in shock, she spoke to the media about the terrifying moment.
“Ujjwal suddenly stabbed him in the chest. He fell to the ground, bleeding. I tried to help, but I was pushed away. Others from their house also joined in and started hitting and abusing him,” she said.
Shaheen also revealed that this wasn’t the first time Asif had problems with the same people. According to her, the attackers had assaulted him before, back in November 2024. “They were jealous of him. They never liked him. This was not just about a scooter. This was a planned attack,” she claimed.
She added that her husband didn’t even interact with them much. “We never had close contact with their family. We always stayed in our own group in the neighbourhood. But they treated him like an enemy without reason.”
The police have registered a case under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita laws (FIR No. 233/25). Two young men, Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), both from the same neighbourhood, have been arrested.
Asif and Shaheen had been married since 2018. It was a love marriage and the second for both of them. They were living together in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi.
