In a shocking incident, a Spanish woman was gangraped in Jharkhand’s Dumka district on Friday night. According to reports, the incident took place in Hansdiha police station area where the woman, accompanied by another tourist, were spending the night a makeshift tent.

The police is yet to come out with more details on the incident but reports claimed that more than half a dozen men overpowered the male partner of the Spanish woman and gangraped her.

Jharkhand health minister Banna Gupta said that while he is not aware of complete facts, his government will take strict action against the perpetrators.

“I don’t know all the complete facts of this incident but the government is committed to take strict action against all those evil doers whosoever commits such crime against any of our sister, Indian or foreigner, within the law,” he told reporters.

Meanwhile, the Opposition BJP has termed the incident a “stain of the state” and slammed the JMM-Congress government over deteriorating law and order situation.

“This shows the deteriorating law & order situation in the state that even the foreigners aren’t safe here. Police should act soon and the government should also take cognizance of it and take strict action against such anarchists. This government has been completely failed,” BJP MLA Anant Ojha told news agency ANI.
