‘Winds of change favour Congress’
Indian Overseas Congress chairman Sam Pitroda has been instrumental in managing the grand old party's affairs outside India.
In a controversial statement, Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Uma Bharti on Thursday said the Congress party “benefitted” from the death of Mahatma Gandhi.
“I want to ask the people of the country, who benefitted from the death of Gandhi? The RSS suffered and so did the country but it was the Congress which benefitted,” Bharti told the media.
“Everyone knows that Gandhi wanted to disband the Congress (after independence)… so, it was the Congress that benefitted from his death,” she added.

Bharti’s statement comes on the day when the dates for the assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are likely to be announced by the Election Commission and will surely ruffle the feathers of many in the Congress party.
