Showcasing his stroke play before the beginning of the mega event, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, former India skipper MS Dhoni hit 113 runs off 78 balls against Bangladesh at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff Tuesday. More than the runs, it was his confidence that pleased every eye watching the fanciful innings laced with eight boundaries and seven half-dozens.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh invited India to bat first. Pace spearhead Mustafizur Rahman struck in the third over of the innings to sent Indian southpaw Shikhar Dhawan back to the dressing room. India kept struggling with blows at regular intervals.

India, at one stage, were reeling at 102 for 4. MSD stepped in then and shared a 164-run partnership with KL Rahul. Rahul departed after a fine knock of 108 but MSD continued his onslaught, taking everything from the middle of his willow. Dhoni was bowled out in the last over by Shakib Al Hasan but the damage was done by then.
