For educated travellers Oman ought to figure high on the wanderlust trail given the diverse range of activities waiting to be explored. Omans ministry of tourism is bent on showcasing the place as a destination of choice for visitors by hosting a slew of unique events in Indian metros with particular interest in Kolkata.nbsp;

Muscat is well known for dolphin watching the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Muttrah Souq; Daymaniyat Islands for snorkeling and scuba diving; while Nizwa is a historic destination and Sharqiyah Sands is ideal for desert camping and Ras Al Jinz for turtle watching. Lubaina Shirazi India representative ministry of tourism Oman explained In a move to step up our visibility and productivity in the Indian travel trade vertical we are making our presence felt at travel marts and will host road shows in tier-II cities. We have planned our strategy to have direct interaction with the consumer through branding and promotions hosted in association with the travel trade.nbsp;

Destination weddings is one such vertical that has been highly successful for us and we will keep updating wedding planners about the latest attractions of Oman. The ministry is concentrating on the tourism potential of tier-I cities like Mumbai New Delhi Bengaluru and Chennai and tier-II cities like Hyderabad Ahmedabad and Pune as well. Said Shirazi We are looking forward to venture into the new market of Kolkata in the current year.nbsp;

Once upon a time Oman was looked upon as an employment destination but we have managed to change the views of unaware travellers and make them well informed by educating them with the help of the travel trade. As such there is a healthy growth in tourist arrivals every year. The ministry has rolled out a wide range of events to pull in corporate travellers. We have organised exclusive meets with the corporate sector including pharmaceutical real estate and telecom groups.nbsp;

We have attended events like V Konnect the MICE Incentive and Luxury Travel congress 03 City Experiential Planner Roadshow and organised corporate evenings in Mumbai.nbsp;

There is a complimentary waiver on group travel and the incentive is based on the profile of the client and the number of roomnights. We received about 13 per cent hike in tourist arrivals last year and hope for a 15-20 per cent rise in the ensuing year Shirazi said.
