The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday suspended its legislator Raj Ballabh Yadav who has been accused of raping a minor girl on February 6 at his residence in Nawada district, the party said.

Chief of RJD&’s state unit, Ram Chandra Purve said: “Taking a serious note of the complaint against the MLA, the party has decided to suspend him from the party with immediate effect.”

The suspension of Yadav came hours after an arrest order against the leader was issued following a complaint by the 15-year-old victim.

Yadav was accused of raping a girl in 1994 and has earlier served as a minister in the RJD government.
