Urging his “brothers and sisters” of to vote in record numbers in the second phase of polling on December 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ended his hectic campaigning for the Gujarat polls on Tuesday by offering prayers at the famous Ambaji Temple in Mehsana.

In what was a clear display of the Gujarat model of development, on the last day of campaigning, Modi took off in a seaplane from the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad and landed at Dharoi Dam, about 180 km away, from where he headed to the temple.

“I urge my sisters and brothers of Gujarat to vote in record numbers on the 14th. I call upon the people of Gujarat to not only give the BJP an overwhelming majority but also ensure that BJP wins in every polling booth across the state,” Modi said.

“I am devoting my life for the betterment of crores of people of Gujarat and India. Have been fortunate to always get your blessings. I am sure you will continue to bless us in these elections too by voting for BJP,” he said.

In an indirect attack on the opposition which questioned Modi’s development model in the state, the Prime Minister said no Gujarati will let go off a golden opportunity of development of the youth and coming generations.

“The lies that our worthy opponents have spread, about Gujarat, Gujarat’s growth and about me personally is something I had never imagined,” he said.

“It is natural for every Gujarati to feel hurt. People of Gujarat will give a fitting reply to the negativity and lies of the opposition,” he added.

He also stressed said BJP should return to power in the state for a strong rapport with the Centre.

“With the Government of India and Government of Gujarat working together, the strength rises manifold. We will take Gujarat to new heights,” he said.

Tuesday was the last day for campaigning for the elections and all the political campaigning halted at 5 pm.

Door-to-door campaigning will be allowed wearing the party symbol on caps and T-shirts.

The second phase polls on Thursday will see around two crore voters decide the fate of 1,828 candidates fighting for 93 assembly seats.
