The Supreme Court on Wednesday reserved its order over the Cauvery water sharing dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The court reserves its order over Cauvery water issue on appeal of Tamil Nadu Karnataka and Kerala against Tribunal’s order of 2007 the apex court said.

However Karnataka will continue to provide 2000 cusecs of water everyday to Tamil Nadu the court added.

The Centre has urged the SC to lay off the dispute insisting that under the parliamentary scheme of things only the Cauvery Water Tribunal could now deal with the dispute.

However the apex court bench was reluctant to accept the submission and hearing on the Centre’s arguments continued on Wednesday.

The court had to decide whether it or the tribunal should decide Karnataka’s grievance against the 2007 award.

Meanwhile a review is pending before the Tribunal while cross appeals are also pending in the top court on the issue.
