Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Tuesday took part in a foot march in Kerala against the alleged CPI(M) atrocities on the party cadre, days after he left the campaign midway after being summoned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The two-week-long ‘Janraksha Yatra’ that was flagged-off by Shah on October 3 from Kannur, will conclude on Tuesday. The northern district has seen several incidents of clashes between CPI(M) and BJP-RSS workers.

According to sources, Shah will address the party workers in the evening.

Shah was supposed walk past the home of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the latter’s hometown in Kannur district on October 5, but had to abandon the rally midway after being asked to return to the national capital for a key meeting with PM Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Senior BJP leaders, including Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath trooped in to Kerala to highlight the ‘Left’s atrocities’ in Kerala under the LDF government.

The BJP-RSS are protesting against the ruling CPI-M’s “political violence” and also against growing jehadi terrorism.

The BJP has just one member in the 140-seat Kerala Assembly in veteran former Union Minister O. Rajagopal.
