The family members of the girl alongwith a large number of villagers approached the police station on Wednesday night and asked the SHO to register their complaint of Gang rape.

Finding the situation sensitive as the case involved two different communities the police lodged an FIR in which Sumit, Jugal and Kalu were charged with gang rape, assaulting and terrorising the victim.

However, the accused men charged the police of booking them in a fake case.

It is alleged that the the workers and members of Vahini reached the village on the next morning and while returning raised slogans outside the place of  worship of the other community.

This enraged the members of the other community who attacked on the Vahini members in which three of them got injured.

Heavy force has been deployed in the village which is still in the grip of tension. According to the police the situation however is under control.
