Hours before his deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face strikes on civilian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to wipe out the entire Iranian civilisation.
In a social media post on X, the US President said, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”

He, however, expressed optimism that a deal could still be made as “different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail” in Iran after what he claimed as a “Complete and Total Regime Change”.

“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionary wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?
“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” Trump added.
For the unversed, Trump has given Iran a deadline of Tuesday 8:00 PM (Eastern Time) to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Failure to do that, he warned, the US military will launch a wave of strikes on Iranian power plants, bridges and other critical infrastructure.
Iran, on the other hand, has rejected the US ceasefire proposal, putting forward its own 10-point plan to end the war.
The Iranian demands in the 10-point proposal include ending the regional conflict, securing transit through the Strait of Hormuz, reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and lifting sanctions against Tehran.
Trump also confirmed receiving Iranian proposal but said “it is not good enough” to stop attacks on power plants. He, however, called it a “significant step”.
“They’ve made a proposal, and it’s a significant proposal — a significant step. It’s not good enough, but it is a very significant step. They are negotiating now, but it’s still a very significant step,” the US President said.
Iran urges nationals to form human chains around critical infrastructure
With Trump’s deadline just hours away, Iran has reportedly urged citizens to sign up for the formation of human chains around power plants and other critical infrastructure in anticipation of US attacks.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed that over 14 million people, including him, have registered to sacrifice their lives to defend Iran.
“More than 14 million proud Iranians have so far registered to sacrifice their lives to defend Iran. I too have been, am, and will remain devoted to giving my life for Iran,” he added.
