The Union minister for petroleum and gas, Dharmendra Pradhan came down heavily on Naveen Patnaik government for its inefficiency and anti-farmer attitude.
Addressing a public meeting here on Tuesday, Pradhan said why has the BJD government in the state failed to credit the rice subsidy amount to the account of beneficiaries.
When the central government can directly credit subsidy amount of LPG cylinders to bank accounts of 17 crore consumers ,can’t the Naveen Patnaik government extend the same facility to 70 lakh beneficiaries of the food security act scheme, he quizzed.
The public meeting was held at Rasalpur under Remuna block.
“Once the money is credited to the accounts , with the amount Rs. 150 a beneficiary can buy grocery items, he said adding,”Under the NFSA ,the centre while provides Rs. 29 ,the consumer gives Re. one and the state government Rs. two.
But Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been claiming the credit for the cheap rice scheme as though he is spending the entire amount from his own pocket.”
Pradhan also charged that the ration card distribution had been mismanaged in Odisha.
BJD activists and even elected representatives at the PRI level had cornered the cards.
There is massive irregularity in the ration card here in Odisha, he alleged.
The Union minister rubbished the CM’s charge of central neglect and dared him to a public debate on flow of funds from the centre and its utilisation.
