Leader of the Opposition Narasingha Mishra has, in a letter to Kandhamal Collector N Tirumala, thanked him for taking speedy and positive steps in regard to development works at Gumudumaha in Kandhamal district.
It may be recalled that a team of the Congress MLAs led by Mishra on 15 July visited Gumudumaha in Kandhamal district to make an on-the-spot assessment of killing of five innocent tribals by security forces during anti-Maoist operation. On 16 July, Mishra had written to the Collector suggesting him to take up speedy development works like construction of pucca road, installation of tube wells at Gumudumaha besides supplying electricity to the area within a period of three months.
On 19 July the collector replied that the road which was under Panchyatraj department had been transferred to RD department and appropriate steps in regard to development works at Gumudumaha have already been taken. The Collector also informed that three tubewells were installed and Rs 1 crore was allocated for road renovation.
