Israel Tuesday claimed to have hit high-value Iranian targets in overnight strikes, including Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani, and head of public repression Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the Basij unit for the past 6 years.

Israeli media, citing officials, reported that Larijani was targeted in an airstrike. The Times of Israel reported, on the authority of officials, that it remained unclear if Larijani was killed.

“Yesterday, the IDF targeted & eliminated Gholamreza Soleimani, who operated as commander of the Basij unit for the past 6 years. Under Soleimani, the Basij unit led the main repression operations in Iran, employing severe violence, widespread arrests, and the use of force against civilian demonstrators,” Israel Defence Forces (IDF) posted on X/Twitter.

Meanwhile, The Times of Israel also reported that Israel also targeted Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Akram al-Ajouri and other top officials in the terror group.
