Parliament’s Winter Session began with sharp confrontation as the Lok Sabha was initially adjourned twice before proceedings were suspended for the entire day after 2 pm following Opposition slogans over the SIR exercise. PM Modi urged MPs to avoid “drama” and focus on policy, while the government introduced two major tax bills before adjournment. Proceedings, meanwhile, continued in the Rajya Sabha till evening before the Opposition staged a walkout.
