The local unit of the BJP accused the state government of engineering imposition of a economic blockade at Talcher during visit of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Addressing a media conference here on Wednesday, BJP secretary Kalindi Samal described the two day economic blockade as a “drama orchestrated by the state government to sabotage the visit of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan”.
Stating that while Pradhan is concerned for the justice to the land oustees of Talcher and had reviewed the situation with MCL authorities on 29 August, Samal said it is the state BJD government which is callous towards the resettlement issue as it failed to provide suitable land.
He accused the state government of shifting the land acquisition office from Talcher hindering the entire process. He regretted that police has not detained not even a single BJD man during two day economic blockade.
Not a single representative of the state government was present at the review meeting held by Mr Pradhan. Given the fact that officers from the coal ministry, MCL and others were present, the state government, had it been sincere should have deputed a senior officer to discuss the rehabilitation problem faced by oustees, remarked Samal.
BJP leaders Jajati Pattnaik, councillor Prakash Maharana were present at the media conference. It may be noted that a local outfit had organized a two day economic blockade at Talcher on 29 and 30 August.
