Google Maps testing video reviews with Local Guides: Report

Until now, Google only allowed ‘Local Guides’ to upload still images to Google Maps. But now it is reportedly testing video reviews with Local Guides as well.

In this new feature, users registered under Local Guides programme for Google Maps will be able to shoot 10-second videos right from Maps or upload 30-second video clips from their camera.

To upload video reviews to Google Maps, the user (registered under Local Guide programme) for select places in Maps can scroll down and select “add a photo,” tap the “camera” icon and then hold the shutter to record or upload a short video, reported TechCrunch on Thursday. Later it is expected to be available for all places as well.

Apparently, the search giant has started notifying users about the video review feature via email and is most likely to release it for public in the near future.
