The Taliban administration has accused Pakistan of carrying out overnight strikes in eastern Afghanistan, adding fresh strain to already tense relations between the neighbouring countries.
For the very obvious reason that its record in the past 30 years cannot inspire confidence.
Afghan officials confirmed the attack in the early hours of Friday had killed 14 Afghan security force members.
The interior ministry confirmed that the attack took place in the eastern city of Gardez.
The attack came a day after the Taliban claimed on Monday that they shot down a US plane in Ghazni province.
US Forces spokesman Colonel Sonny Leggett gave no information on casualties in the crash.
The district chief of Qarabagh said that the incident occurred in Liwanai Bazaar locality.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said the insurgent group "has nothing to do with" the attack on the Japanese aid agency.
The bombing which appeared to target a military base has been claimed by the Taliban.
The blast came one day after an Islamic State suicide bomber blew himself up outside an Afghan army military academy, killing at least six people.
