Lashing out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the state of Yamuna, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shehzad Poonawalla said the ruling party had failed to deliver his promise of cleaning the river.
Devotees offered 'Araghya' to the rising sun as toxic foam floated on the surface of the polluted Yamuna river during Chhath Puja celebrations at Kalindi Kunj, in the national capital, on Monday morning.
The teenagers were identified as Rishu, 14, Shivam,13, and Rupesh, 13, all students of same school.
One of the reasons for the rise is being attributed to Friday night's heavy rainfall, the CWC said.
The main concern of the people living in the affected districts is that once Yamuna floodwaters start receding snakes could creep into homes along the river bank.
The water level of the Yamuna River was recorded at 206.01 meters in Delhi on Monday at 11 pm. This is a level-up from the earlier gradual decrease in the water level of the Yamuna.
The Delhi chief minister informed that the water treatment plant, which has the capacity for treatment of 134 MGD water, has started producing 54 MGD.
