Announcing this at a press conference attended by all the alliance partners, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said that the decision was made with the consent of his party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi.
While the NDA is firmly in the field and has launched its campaign with full force, the INDIA bloc has failed to finalise a formal seat-sharing agreement, even after the nomination process concluded.
However, it remains unclear how many seats the RJD, Congress, and Left parties will contest. So far, the Congress has released a list of 48 candidates, while the RJD announced nominees for 46 seats.
However, all is not well within the alliance, as disagreements have surfaced among the Opposition partners, delaying the announcement of their seat-sharing arrangement.
Meanwhile, the part of ruling alliance Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan too held a meeting with the state working committee members via video conferencing in the run-up to the elections, to look into the preparations of the party.
