As of 7.06 pm (IST), Downdetector received 42,261 outage reports in the United States, 11,388 in the United Kingdom, and over 2,128 reports in India.
Several users reported they were being directed to their timeline instead of the normal tweets on the feed.
More than 4,000 instances of the outage have been received from Japan, Canada and India as reported by outage monitoring website Outage.
Millions of users around the world were left without the services of Twitter for a few minutes on Tuesday evening. The website was down for a couple of minutes from around 7.20 pm India time.
