The non-conventional and renewable energy sources department of the West Bengal government has convened a crucial meeting at Uttarkanya, Siliguri, on 5 June to explore the potential for renewable energy generation and use in the tea gardens of north Bengal.

Trade unions representing over 175 tea plantations in the Terai and Dooars have finally agreed to a 16 per cent bonus-cum-compensatory payment for the accounting year 2023-24.
The TIPA further says that most of the tea growers in Nepal do not comply with the Plant Protection Code and FSSAI Regulation and that many of them belong to the unorganised sector.
