Novel technologies developed by the different ICAR institutes will be showcased in the exhibition for the benefit of the stakeholders to increase agricultural production, quality and income of the farmers.
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday reviewed the progress in the sowing of the country’s kharif crops and directed officials to step up efforts to enhance the production of pulses.
The Agriculture Minister held a meeting with a high-level delegation from Chhattisgarh, including the state's Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi.
He said that about 86 per cent of the farmers are small-marginal farmers. “We have to create farming models where farmers can earn their livelihood properly even in farming of up to one hectare,” he said.
The Centre is committed to procuring Tur, Urad and Masur at MSP to ensure crop diversification and achieve self-sufficiency in pulses production, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
In a meeting on the action plan for the next 100 days of various schemes of the ministry, the Minister emphasised implementing the action plan in a strong and effective manner.
Reviewing the preparedness for Kharif season 2024 at Krishi Bhawan with officials of various departments, he directed them to ensure timely distribution and quality supply of input materials for the crops.
The Minister directed senior officials to take strong steps to strengthen women’s Self Help Groups (SHGs) in rural areas.
He also emphasized on the importance of assessing the performance and impact of the existing research network.
