Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches Dhanuka Agritech's awareness campaign against counterfeit agricultural products in Madhya Pradesh.

A month-long awareness campaign aimed at helping farmers identify and avoid counterfeit agricultural products was launched in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, with Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan flagging off five farmer awareness audio vans operated by Dhanuka Agritech Limited.

The initiative, inspired by the government’s ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’, seeks to educate farmers about the risks associated with fake agricultural inputs and encourage the use of certified and quality products to improve farm productivity.

The campaign was launched during a farmer-focused programme in Vidisha, where Chouhan also laid the foundation stone for a Model Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and inaugurated several farmer welfare initiatives.

Awareness vans to travel across Madhya Pradesh

The five audio vans will travel through major agricultural districts of Madhya Pradesh over the next month, reaching thousands of farmers with information on counterfeit farm products and best agricultural practices.

As part of the outreach programme, farmers will be educated on how to identify fake agricultural products and protect themselves from fraudulent purchases.

The campaign will also promote the balanced and responsible use of agricultural chemicals. Farmers will be encouraged to verify product authenticity through QR codes, purchase inputs only from authorised dealers, and insist on proper invoices and receipts while making purchases.

Counterfeit products hurt productivity and incomes: Dhanuka

Speaking on the occasion, Dhanuka Agritech Chairman Emeritus Dr R G Agarwal said India is among the world’s leading agricultural producers but continues to lag behind countries such as China in per-hectare productivity.

“One of the key reasons is the limited access of farmers to quality agricultural inputs and modern farming technologies. Counterfeit agricultural products further worsen this challenge. Such products affect crop performance, reduce yields and negatively impact farmers’ incomes. In many cases, farmers unknowingly purchase fake products and suffer financial losses,” he said.

Dr Agarwal said the campaign aims to equip farmers with accurate information so they can avoid counterfeit products, adopt quality farm inputs and improve productivity.

He added that awareness is essential to protect farmers’ interests, improve transparency in the agricultural sector and encourage the use of genuine agricultural products.

According to Dhanuka Agritech, the campaign is intended to strengthen trust, transparency and sustainable agricultural development through farmer education and industry-government cooperation.
