Bangladesh: BNP calls on interim govt to repatriate Rohingyas

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Friday called on the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus to bolster diplomatic efforts and exert pressure on Myanmar to facilitate the safe, dignified, and voluntary repatriation of Rohingyas who sought refuge in Bangladesh.

The plight of Rohingyas and other minorities

First, we start with an antipathy towards the lower castes, then it may escalate to others who don’t look like us (peoples from the north-east), then the Dravidian southerners and soon who will be left outside this hate-filled ambit?

The state government also provided the names of Rohingya refugees who were staying in the northeast division of the city. It further added that all these Rohingyas, except those below 12 years of age, have been given individual numbers by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
