The fight over Patna's high-profile 10 Circular Road residence has turned into a political flashpoint, with both the NDA and RJD digging in over the government's eviction notice.
A banner displayed outside the RJD office in Patna on Monday, featuring Lalu Prasad Yadav and his daughter Rohini Acharya, has triggered fresh political speculation in Bihar.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a major boost on Tuesday as former state president of the RJD women’s cell, Ritu Jaiswal, joined the party along with several other RJD leaders. Bihar BJP president Sanjay Saraogi formally inducted her into the party.
Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, launched a blistering attack on the Samrat Choudhary-led government on Tuesday, alleging that criminals “protected and nurtured by those in power” have unleashed terror upon women across Bihar.
Praveen defeated IUML’s Jayanti Rajan by a slim margin of 1,286 votes. He secured 70,448 votes, while his closest rival polled 69,162 votes.
The remaining 122 constituencies will go to the polls on 11 November, with 1,302 candidates contesting. The results will be announced on 14 November.
While it is not clear in the video who Lalan Singh was referring to, the Election Commission has nevertheless issued a notice to the Union minister in connection with the matter. The Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar issued the notice to the JD(U) leader after the RJD posted the said video on its X handle and demanded that the EC act against Lalan Singh.
Yadav also exuded his confidence in the Mahagathbandhan’s victory. “Hum log jeet rahe hain, Bihar ki janta jita rahi hai. We will take the oath on 18th November,” he said.
Referring to the INDIA bloc’s “the three monkeys — Pappu, Tappu, and Appu”, Yogi said, “Pappu cannot speak the truth, Tappu cannot see the truth, and Appu cannot hear it. They can neither see Modi ji’s development work nor sense the nation’s progress.”
Addressing election rallies in Saharsa and Katihar, he said in the Bihar Assembly elections, one side represents the NDA, which is committed to building a developed Bihar, while on the other side are those associated with ‘jungle raj’ (lawless rule).
