Calling the Centre’s initial relief package of Rs 1,600 crore a “grave injustice” to the people of Punjab, Gandhi noted that the state’s estimated losses stand at nearly Rs 20,000 crore.
He urged BJP leaders to impress upon the Prime Minister to release a special financial package for Himachal Pradesh at the earliest so that affected families could receive timely assistance.
He announced after he visited Punjab to review the flood situation and assess the damage caused by cloudbursts and heavy rain in affected areas.
