Taking concrete steps on this issue related to public safety, the state government has expedited the process of establishing dog shelter homes and Animal Birth Control (ABC) centers in municipal corporations and district headquarters.
During a special meeting on Thursday, the Chief Minister instructed senior police officials to conduct an intensive investigation into deaths caused by Chinese manja.
The SP activists raised slogans, accusing the government of deteriorating law and order in the state. Police reached the spot and escorted the protesters to Eco Garden.
According to the police, the fatal mishap occurred on the Ratlam-Jhabua road at around 10.45 pm on Monday.
During the hearing, the apex court raised a pointed query on accountability, asking who should be held responsible if a nine-year-old child is killed in a stray dog attack.
The Chief Minister said that in police station areas where crime is not brought under effective control, accountability of the concerned officers will be fixed and, if required, stringent action such as demotion will also be taken against them
The move comes following the retirement of officiating DGP Om Prakash Singh at the end of his tenure on December 31, 2025.
During the session, he issued a stern directive to top brass and field officers to maintain a "hawk-eyed" vigil across the city.
According to the Delhi Fire Service, they received a call about the incident at around 4:45 pm. An official stated that five fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot.
