Uttar Pradesh's electricity demand jumped from 501 million units per day to 561 million units per day in April-May due to the heat wave conditions across North India, with the peak demand touching 30,339 MW.
A power cut of four hours being observed in the urban areas has also been withdrawn.
The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (JPDCL) has also ordered a daily power cut of 4 hours in the urban areas of Jammu. The curtailment order came on Monday evening and its implementation began early this morning.
